Rain and Stars
Nimes and Milan
We loved Nimes. Stunning location, rocking Radiohead set. Just great. And the imminent rain held off so everyone was happy. After Les Amis de la Terre's experience of campaigning at the Paris gig, they wasted no time getting stuck in talking to the audience about the The Big Ask - in total they signed up 4000 supporters in France, all asking the government to support the goal to cut climate changing emissions across Europe by at least 30% by 2020 and 90% by 2050 - well done people, really good work :-)

And here's the environmental report from Katie http://www.radiohead.com/tourdates/14jun_nimes.html
After driving the tour buses through the night from France to Italy, next stop was 17th/18th June at the Arena Civica in Milan.
(reminds me, there's an update on Richard's blog about tour travel, at http://www.radiohead.com/themostgiganticflyingmouthforsometime/ )
Amici della Terra kept their spirits up on the first gig despite heavy rain - the skies opened as Bat for Lashes stepped on stage, but everyone kept smiling and loved the set. FoE Italy did brilliantly and signed up over 1600 people - quite impressive considering rain stopped play for a while. Stars where shining bright for us though on the 18th, with Thom and the band, Brad Pitt and Edward Norton hanging out at the after show party.. Trust Milan to deliver in style.
So next stop for Friends of the Earth on the tour is Victoria Park, London which is an exciting one for us. As some of you already know, the climate change bill is now a reality in the UK and was the inspiration to take this campaign Europe wide. We're now working hard to make sure the bill is one that works, by including the UK's international aviation and shipping emissions, which are currently being ignored. You can shape this groundbreaking law here http://www.thebigask.com/aviation/landing.php by jumping on a virtual flight. Over 176,700 people are already on it, don't get left behind now...
